And ... he's done it again !!

OK .. I admit... I'm appalled... I think the last time I was so shocked with something happening in the US was (September 11 excluded...) when the president is elected with less than half the votes...

Now I'm in just plain shock... the guy actually had more votes... so we end up with another 4 years of "completely idiotic, president cowboy, who tries to compensate his lack of... brains (hey, what where YOU thinking??) with a bunch of big weapons...

And how does he do it?

Brings the US economy to drag itself as it didn't in years, causes the biggest deficit in US history, kills a ton of americans (and worse, even some people from other countries...) with a bad excuse (Hey, Saddam has chemical weapons, they're just so well hidden that nobody sees them... wonder if Saddam will have invented a invisible spray to put on them next... !!).

So... I admit, I definitely cannot understand americans... I can understand a bunch of them.. but I'm not sure I'll ever understand the way they see politics.

So there goes another term for a guy who placed the US out of every international agreement I can remember (The Kyoto Protocol, the Nuclear non-proliferation treaty, the International War Crimes court - guess they have something to hide, wonder what...), that made the United Nations a Joke (for those who learned History I wonder if something called Society of Nations comes to mind back in the 1930s...).

Personally I think the guy actually is probably the closest thing to a Nazi since World War II except for a few dictator in South America, Suharto and the North Korean Regime... and ok, for the americans to be slightly happier, maybe some Arab regimes...

Funny enough, even from independent or inteligence reports, religious wars in Iraq were't common before them in spite of the Iraqui Curdistan issue...

But that's just a opinion of course...

Another fun thing... Anyone noticed the voting in D.C ? 90% Kerry.. lots of friends Georgie made it seems...

So in retrospect... September 11 was the best thing that happened to one of the greatest idiots in the world...

And since I saw "Manchurian Candidate" yesterday... damn, that would give me some ideas as to the gentleman's (does he understand the word ??) mind if I were into the conspiracy theory...

Oh... let's get the guy who lowers rich people taxes while keeping poor people's taxes rule again.. with some luck he'll launch a few Nukes in the world and we'll be a happy foregone world...

As a brave air-force pilot said in Dr. Strangelove (a movie by Stanley Kubrick...) :

YAAAAAHOOOOOO !!!!! :)

And there I thought...

That it would be Windows XP's Service Pack 2 that would give me trouble ...

But no .. once I took a better look it ws my A4 Tech brand new, Microsoft given on Windows Update site that did it .. I couldn't boot the blasted thing ...

Seems that it activates a service that makes it go "a bit" mad...

Off to the Windows text mode recovery console (always get it installed, very handy ... :) ), disable the service, remove the mouse on Windows, and install the old driver that came on the good old floppy disk :)

Magic.. Who says old things aren't good ? ;) eheh

Service pack 2 on the other hand is working fine so far... just my luck?

A Bananas Republic and other nice stories...

There was a rumor... The Bananas Republic was located somewhere in South America...

I can now confirm this to be a uttere lie! It is located on the Western part of Europe on the so called "Civilised World".

The place is also known as Portugal (or Portuguese Republic") where, starting today, a computorized process was replaced by a manual process (that is chips running software with (lots of) bugs was replaced by a machine of paper running pencils and pens... ! ;)

Objective? Placing teachers on schools for the current school year... Please note that the current school year started last September 16th... ;)

Anyway...

I installed Service Pack 2 for Windows XP... so far it still hasn't busted my PC, and it's running fine (except for Norton 2003 wich I still haven't tested well, but the console seems to have stopped appear "by itself").

I'll give notice when I test it decently :)

Google Mail (http://www.gmail.com) on the other hand looks nice.
Nice clean interface, bunch of Space, and for free... pity they still have it on beta state, but it's looking nice :)

Back to the real world now... :)

Wondering what I'll have for dinner... decisions, decisions...

Found a cute site with some portuguese recipes... thinking about a variant of spaghetti though... talk about lack of imagination :)

Other than that, not much to do .. wondering if I'll really get my new car after tomorrow after all.. we'll see .. keep your fingers crossed, I'll only believe it when I have the keys on my hand.. :P

Firefox, Thunderbird & Mozilla

Hi ..

Been using Mozilla Firefox for a while now .. except for the ocasional "I need IE" page. And by the way, it's behaving amazingly well :)

As for Thunderbird it's the mail reader from Mozilla.. best anti-spam filter I've seen yet, even if it takes a week or two for coaching it.

Mozilla is the full featured thing... It includes everything :)

Take a look :)

Later

bored...

Hi back ..

2 posts in the same week.. wow...

Well, true ...

Just found that the portuguese government is about to spens 100 million Euro on the stock market .. never mind that we lack airplanes to fight Summer fires, that a lawsuit takes at least 3 oer 4 years to be solved in this country, and all that... :P

Anyway, Portugal beat Paraguay, 5-0, on the Olypic National Teams Soccer game last night. Not bad...

Heard there was only one guy selling tickets too.. wonder if the others drew straws to see who would go to the game...

Ah well.. later

Hello!

I just noticed, it has been about a year, since I wrote in this blog.. and a hell of a lot happened since then... not that I'll get into most the details, I guess, people who know me know I sort of get disgrunted talking about myself :)

I changed jobs, met new people, done new things, saw friends getting married and divorced, and have children, changed minds on a few things, got even more sure on other things...

Chenged jobs, travelled, met new people while travelling, saw Portugal beat in the final of the Euro 2004 by a Greek side that played "lets make fouls and defend" (not that they haven't done it well, mind you, but I'd rather have lost to 12 other sides, exceptions being Lithuania, Switzerland and Bulgaria...).

But I saw people take pride in being Portuguese, wich, for a change, was nice.

I saw a government being replaced (not entirely to my satisfaction, I'd rather most of the ministers to have stayed ...), and I'm seeing fires burning again...

I bought a car, and became a bit of a student again, while I attended my Cisco ICND classes. Seems more to come in September.

I have a girlfriend again, wich is something I hadn't in a while, and still sort of getting used to the idea again...

And, as someone told me yesterday... I'm (still) crazy after all this year :)

Cheers :)
